Rather than using a catch and/or drop bolt as you would with a manually operated gate, an automatic gate operator holds the gate closed. If a gate is wider than 2m or has an opening angle wider than 110 degrees it is recommended that an electric lock be used. An electro-magnetic lock is best as these have a high tolerance to any ground movement or gate dropping, where as strike locks tend to jam if there is any movement. Single gates lock against a receiving post.
A small Electro-magnetic clamp can also be used for Pedestrian Gates and have a handle made into the Mounting bracket.
A double gate must lock to the ground. One electro-magnetic clamp can be used to lock both sides of a double gate.
See our Electric Locks product page for different types, pricing and install manuals.
